Stomach Tuck Toronto

MEET Dr. Brett Beber, MD, FRCS

Dr. Brett Beber, MD, FRCSC, is a board certified plastic surgeon who has been practicing in Toronto for over 18 years. Dr. Beber brings a wealth of cosmetic surgery experience to his patients, offering popular surgical procedures such as breast enhancement and body contouring.
When people come to Beber Surgery with concerns about their abdomen they call it a “stomach tuck”. A lot of people use that term but the medical term is actually abdominoplasty or belly tuck. Whatever you call it, this procedure fixes one of the most annoying areas of the body that people have even when they are doing everything right with food and exercise. A tummy tuck smooths and tightens the abdomen by removing excess skin and repairing weakened muscles. This procedure helps achieve a more toned, contoured midsection after weight loss or pregnancy. Patients often experience renewed confidence and comfort in their appearance. The goal of a stomach tuck is to get rid of extra skin and fat from the stomach area and tighten the muscles underneath. Over the years we have worked with many patients who have done a lot of sit ups, planks and core exercises but still can’t get rid of that stubborn pooch or loose skin. Sometimes we just need a little extra help. People come to us for this procedure for many reasons. We see mothers who have been pregnant one or more times and want to talk about how their bodies have changed. Pregnancy can stretch the skin and muscles of the stomach beyond what the body can naturally repair. No amount of working out will fix muscles that are separated. That’s why a tummy tuck is usually done along with other procedures as part of a “Mommy Makeover” to help women feel like themselves again. We also help those who have lost a lot of weight and are left with extra skin that hangs down and makes them uncomfortable or hard to clean. We make a horizontal incision across the lower abdomen during the procedure which takes 2-5 hours. The incision is placed low enough to be hidden by underwear or swimsuits. We remove the extra skin and fat through this incision and if the abdominal muscles have weakened or separated we fix them too. This is what actually makes your waistline look slimmer and firmer. Before patients agree to surgery at our Toronto office we always make sure they know what to expect for recovery. The first few days after surgery are usually the worst with some discomfort, swelling and bruising. We give patients medication to help with the pain and most people say it gets a lot better after the first week. You may need to take more than 2 weeks off work especially if you have a job that requires lifting or heavy exercise. We also tell patients to avoid heavy exercise for 6 weeks so their bodies can recover properly. Breast revision surgery refines or corrects the results of previous procedures for improved symmetry and satisfaction. Each treatment is tailored to meet the patient’s evolving goals and expectations. The goal is to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results that align with the patient’s current aesthetic vision. We want to make it clear that a tummy tuck is not a way to lose weight. This procedure is for people who are already at or close to their goal weight but have loose skin or fat that won’t go away in certain areas. If you still want to lose a lot of weight we usually recommend waiting until you have reached a stable weight before surgery. If you maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle the benefits of a tummy tuck can last for many years and sometimes even for life. Some of our patients have said that the surgery made them feel more confident and free. They can now wear clothes that fit without worrying about how their stomach looks and for the first time in years they feel comfortable at the beach or pool. If you want to have a tummy tuck in Toronto the first thing you need to do is book a consultation. We’ll look at your stomach, talk about your goals and what kind of results you can expect. We want you to feel good about your decision so please ask as many questions as you need to. What matters most to us is your safety and happiness.
