What exactly is a breast augmentation In Toronto?

Breast augmentation is a surgery that makes your breasts bigger, better shaped or fuller again. We do a lot of this surgery at Beber Plastic Surgery and we know many patients want to know exactly what it involves before they make a decision. In short, breast augmentation makes your breasts look better and your body look more balanced by putting in implants or, less often, moving fat from one part of your body to another.

We put the implant under the breast tissue or chest muscle. This is the most common approach. These implants come in different materials, shapes and sizes so they can fit different body types and look good. Silicone implants are filled with a gel that stays together and feels like real breast tissue. Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water. Regulators have tested both and deemed them safe.

During the procedure we make a small incision in one of several spots. Most people put them in the inframammary fold, which is the fold under the breast. This spot makes it easier to put the implant exactly where it needs to go and the scar is usually hard to see. You could also have the incision made around the areola or in the armpit depending on your body type and what you like. We discuss these options in detail during the appointment to help you decide what’s best for you. We create a pocket for the implant to sit in after we make the incision. You can put this pocket above or below the pectoralis muscle. Submuscular implantation, or putting the implant behind the muscle, usually gives more natural results and makes the edges of the implant less noticeable.

Subglandular placement, or putting something under the muscle, usually means a shorter recovery. We help you weigh the pros and cons of each option based on your body type and what you want to achieve. We put the implant in and then close the incisions. We also put dressings on the surgery sites to keep them clean. The whole procedure takes about 1-2 hours but can take more or less time depending on your case.

You’ll get all the information you need for aftercare and pain medication when you leave the office.

People come to our Toronto clinic with many different problems that breast augmentation can help with. Many women think their breasts are naturally small or not fully formed so they want them to be bigger and more even. Some women lose volume in their breasts after having kids and breastfeeding which can make them look flat. Some people want to get breast since losing weight can change the size and shape of their breasts a lot.

Some patients get breast implants to address asymmetry, which is when one breast is much smaller than the other. This happens a lot but the amount of difference varies. We can make the breasts more even and balanced by using implants of different sizes or moving them around. The goal is always to help you feel better about yourself and your body.

This is different from previous types of breast. This is a technique used in. This is a. Over the course of several months the results of breast augmentation become more and more apparent as the swelling goes down and the tissues settle. At first swelling can make breasts look bigger and firmer than they really are. Over time the implants settle into a more natural position and the breast tissue around them gets softer. Most patients don’t notice the final results of their surgery until 3-6 months later.

Modern breast implants are made to last a long time but not forever. At some point you may need further surgery to replace implants or deal with changes in your breasts. We discuss how long you can expect the implants to last at the appointment so you know what to expect.

Getting breast implants is a personal choice. We never force someone to get surgery or tell them augmentation is necessary. Instead we listen to what you want and what you’re worried about and then give you honest advice on whether breast augmentation can help you achieve the look you want. Our top priority is your health and happiness.

We take the time to explain breast augmentation to every patient that comes to our Toronto office. We believe patients who know more make better decisions and feel better about them. The technical side of breast augmentation changes as new techniques and implant technologies emerge. We stay current by learning and training. This ensures we can offer our patients the best and safest options. But the bottom line is the same: to make you feel better about how you look and more confident.

Many of our patients think getting breast implants makes their life better. They feel better in their clothes, are more comfortable in social situations and are happy with how they look overall.
